Volunteer with Loving Arms

Our wonderful team of volunteers help in different ways. Some sort through the clothes and donations, some do washing at home, and others clean equipment like cots and highchairs. Some help with deliveries, some are handy on the sewing machine, or knit garments for babies and toddlers, and some are experts at packing bundles for families. Our greatest needs for help are sorting at Loving Arms, doing washing at home, and cleaning equipment, either at Loving Arms or at home. Many hands really do make light work, and anything you can do will be greatly appreciated!

How you can help

We would love to have you join us! Whether you would like to come regularly each week, or just want to come along when you can, we will be happy to have you. We'll give you an introduction into how we do things, such as what we keep and what we don’t, but it's all pretty straightforward! Click on the button below to register your interest, or to ask any questions.

If you are looking for a place to do some workplace volunteering then please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!

Our photo gallery below shows some of the work our volunteers do.

Do you knit, crochet, or sew?

We always need knitted items, such as newborn booties, vests and beanies, vests and knitted or crocheted hats for 3-12 month olds, and warm jerseys or cardigans for all ages up to 2 year olds. If you need wool or patterns, please get in touch, as we have some favourite, easy patterns for sharing, and often receive donations of wool to pass on.

If simple sewing is your thing, we appreciate bassinet and cot bedding, wraps, and flannels.

Flat cot bedding: 110cmx150cm approx.

Flat bassinet bedding: 80cmx110cm approx.

Wraps: 80cm square, approx.

Flannels: 20cm square, approx.

For something a bit more challenging, we are always after tops and bottoms for 1 and 2 year olds. Light, stretch knit, or polar fleece fabrics are perfect for clothing that's easy for families to wash and dry. If you need patterns or fabric, get in touch, as we often receive donations of fabric to pass on.
